In light-traffic areas, grass can grow through the open cells. In high-traffic areas (car parks, gateways), the mats protect the ground — grass beneath will be shaded but the mat prevents erosion and rutting.
Lay directly on firm, level ground. Clear weeds first. Mats interlock without fixings — no tools or adhesive required. For vehicle areas, a compacted sub-base (MOT Type 1) is recommended.
Each standard mat covers 0.64m² (800mm × 800mm). Divide your area in m² by 0.64 to get the number of mats. Add 5–10% for cutting and waste at edges.
